Challenge No. 50 ~ Yellow

May 15, 2011

Hello and welcome to our 50th Copic Creations challenge!   Phew, that’s a LOT of challenges!

Today we are featuring an often neglected Copic color ~ YELLOW!!    There certainly are enough Y and YR Copic color choices, yet it seems to be one of the least used colors.   Poor YELLOW.

Smiley from millan.net

Well, we hope to change your feelings about YELLOW today!   Below you’ll find some amazing creations from the Design Team, showcasing their favorite YELLOW Copic combinations.  Yes, you will be amazed at their work!

We are also welcoming back one of our favorite sponsors ~ Paper Makeup Stamps, owned by our own awesome DT member Katie Cotton!    Here’s a little info about Katie and PMS:

Katie has been stamping since 2006 but paper crafting for much longer.  The first moment she had rubber in her inky fingers, she knew that one day she’d like to start her own company.  3 short years later, her visions are coming to a reality.  The company prides itself on a “have it your way” attitude offering stamps bare or mounted, and many in various sizes.  All suggestions will be taken to heart as the customers are the core of this company.
How the name came about
While stamping, scrapbooking and other paper crafting are Katie’s major hobbies, she is a professional makeup artist by trade.  When she was first thinking of what to call her company, Paper Makeup was first to come to mind.  After using it as her blog title for nearly a year, she couldn’t decide if she should choose a new name, or stick to one near and dear to her heart.  Since so many knew her as “Paper Makeup”, it won out and Paper Makeup Stamps was born!

We hope you’ll take some time to check out her store – you won’t be disappointed!    All the YELLOW sample cards from DT feature an image from Paper Makeup Stamps.

Soooo, what’s the PRIZE this week you ask …

A $20.00 Gift Certificate to the Paper Makeup Stamps store!!

PLEASE NOTE  You are NOT required to use an image from our sponsor for your Copic Creations project. You will have until May 31st, 12:00 P.M., CDT to post your artwork and be eligible for a chance to win this weeks prize; The winner will be announced along with our next challenge post on June 1st.

Don’t forget to stop back on June 1st for our HUGE TWO-YEAR BLOGOVERSARY BLOWOUT!!   You won’t want to miss this one … we have a TON of prizes lined up this celebration!!

Challenge No. 48 ~ Favorite Paper for Copic Coloring

April 15, 2011

Welcome.   We’re so happy you could join us today!

It seems whenever you come across the subject of Copics on message boards, craft sites, etc. there are always numerous discussions on “what’s the best paper to use when coloring with Copics“.   Well, we’d like to hear from you on this!

Below you’ll find a poll with the most popular papers available for Copics … please take a minute to let us know which is YOUR favorite.

Our Design Team was recently introduced to the newest paper in the Copic blending family ~ Cryogen White cardstock from our awesome sponsor this week … the Paper Temptress.

Here’s what Patricia (THE Paper Temptress!)  has to say about Cryogen White:

Elegant, yet subtle iridescent finish with a subtle sparkle when you “flip” it.
Copic coloring cardstock with that “Wow” factor!
Copic and prismacolor markers work beautifully with this paper keeping the iridescent finish while adding rich color.
The preferred specialty copic cardstock of Copic instructors! This is what a copic instructor said “”I am using Cryogen White now, love it…..it’s a mix between a smooth paper & and some with tooth too—lite iridescent too, really pretty and easy to use!”
Laser and ink jet compatible
Acid Free
8.5 x 11 and 12 x 12 ….Available in both 89# Cardstock and text weight.
Be sure to check out the awesome Heavenly White since it is also highly recommended by copic instructors also.

If you’ve not yet visited the Paper Temptress store, you should definitely check it out.    You’ll find an amazing variety of every type of paper to fulfill your heart’s desire!

No matter what color, weight, or type of cardstock and now ribbon you want, you will ALWAYS find it at PaperTemptress.com!

The VERY generous Paper Temptress has supplied each member of the CC Design Team with a package of fabulous papers for our challenge today.   All the GORGEOUS samples below have been created using Cryogen White cardstock and other various papers carried by the Paper Temptress.   The consensus is WE’RE IN LOVE!!

**********************************

Tutorials:    No specific tutorials for this challenge … but here are a few of the CC Design Team’s favorite blue combinations:

If Copic only made 3 blues, I’d want them to be B91, B95 and B97. I use those 3 blues, in some combination, on nearly everything from sky, water, clothing, animals, baby stuff, etc.  These 3 blues are definitely my “go to” Bs. (I sure am glad that there are more choices though!!!) ~ Rose

I’m with Rose on this one the B90’s are my favourites, a light, a dark and one in between!! ~ Heather

My favorite “blues” are actually blue-greens (BGs).    I often use BG000, 72, 75  … and now the brand NEW BG70 too! ~ Mary

For your convenience the Design Team have included the specific blue Copic colors used for their sample cards below featuring Sugar Nellie images.     Each card is STUNNING!!

***VERY SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT:   Our next challenge, on April 1st will be our TWO YEAR Anniversary!   We’ve been busy planning and really hope you can join us!   LOTS of prizes will be up for grabs – you definitely won’t want to miss this one!

We’re also SUPER excited to announce that one VERY lucky participant this week will have the chance to win …

Challenge No. 44 ~ Warm Colors

February 15, 2011

Hello!    Thank you so much for stopping in today.   If you recall our last challenge, you definitely will NOT be surprised to hear that our challenge today is WARM colors, as shown below.

Our awesome sponsor this week is Bugaboo Stamps ~ home to some absolutely adorable digital images.  Here’s a little bit about Jodie,  the illustrator and owner of Bugaboo Stamps:

“I have been designing graphics for 7  years, mostly for those who digitize, and now venturing into this new idea of stamps. I love to draw and love to see were my designs go and how they are used.   I find making people smile with my graphics very rewarding!   When you live in a tiny Saskatchewan town, sending your images to Iceland, the Netherlands, Africa to name a few is very exciting!  For many many years I drew mostly cutesy kids graphics you’d find on baby or kids clothes, alot of which you’ll find here. But my latest passion is my cranky old boots….Stella , Margaret and the Gals who came after them.  I just LOVE to create them.”

I hope you’ll be inspired to join us for our WARM colors challenge after seeing the Design Team samples below.    Bugaboo has graciously provided images for the Design Team to showcase, and as always, they’ve done an amazing job!

Our prize for one lucky winner will be  …

7 (Seven) Bugaboo Stamp images of your choice!

PLEASE NOTE: You are NOT required to use an image from our sponsor for your Copic Creations project. You will have until February 28, 12:00 P.M., CST to post your artwork and be eligible for a chance to win this weeks prize; The winner will be announced along with our next challenge post on March 1st.
